XPERIA MINI - what's your ROM?

What is Rom?

Rom is a firmware that was released for our mobile phones.  These are the files and systems that cannot be modified and accessed as they may lead to some unknown issues.  Hence, they are locked.  But, if you rooted your mobile, you got the key of this closed door. :)

What is Root?

Acquiring Root is having an access to these internal files and systems.  It allows you to modify, replace and delete them.  It seems that you take a total control over the device and hot the system works.  But hey, this is very delicate and may brick your precious little phone.  But taking the risk can make you learn and even get what you wanted, right? (Don't say I didn't warn you.)

And having a rooted phone allows you to install a custom rom (customized rom) to your device. (yey!) Custom rom might have some performance tweaks and new features.

So mine's the SMART XPERIA JB/ICS rom.  From its name JB/ICS, it is a compilation of cool stuffs and features between the Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich android versions.

What can I say with this Rom?

I can say that this Rom is fast and smooth though I can't say that this rom's stable enough for hard gaming.  I use it for a month now and no issues encountered yet but some lags on games.  I had some games worked cool with the stock ICS rom that became a little bit laggy with the JB/ICS.  But I believe that the developers of this rom are now working on it so we can enjoy the beauty and stability of the JB/ICS more.

By the way, I attached a few screenshots. Look, the annoying bubble thingy (I don' know what it's called) are no longer there. Hooray!

What I love most about this rom is that the developer deleted/ removed all the bloatwares.  You'll get a high internal memory and RAM using this rom.

These are the system apps that's on the JB/ICS Rom:

•Contacts
•Phone
•Messaging
•Browser
•Settings
•Walkman
•Album
•Alarm and Clock
•Cyber-shot
•Email
•Play Store
•Calendar
•Calculator
•Cyber-shot 3D Panorama
•3D Album
•Voice Search
•Google
•Downloads
•FM radio
•Notes
•Movies

You would see that some apps like facebook and timeline are no longer included as they are not being used that much.  And if you really want to keep apps like these to your phone, you can download them to the Play Store for free.

Wanna try? Click this to find out how. (Hold on, I'll put in on my next post - SORRY!).

You can go back to the original ICS though if this did not met your taste.

Do you know a stable rom for our xperia mini?  We would appreciate it if you share it to us. :)

**Thanks Danis Ariandi and Yarman2000 of XDA Developers for the wonderful rom.**
